Captain William Johnson built the first sawmill,woollen mill, gristmill and first store
He also built the first dam on the Black Biver at Baldwin.
Although the village is on the river it includes the shoreline between Port Bolster and Virginia.
Along here only Holmes Point offers public acess to the lake at the Pefferlaw river.
Nearby at Duclos point the area harbours a 274 acre private nature reserve that is home to marsh hens,ospreys and the largest species of tern in the world. |
